How to Recover After Standing All Day: A Simple At-Home Routine
A short evening routine for nurses, teachers, retail and restaurant workers — and anyone whose day ends with tired feet.

If you spend eight to twelve hours on your feet, you already know the feeling: the last hour of the shift is the longest, and the first ten minutes at home decide how the rest of the evening goes. Here is a simple routine that takes about fifteen minutes.
Why feet and legs feel tired after long days
Standing keeps the same muscles working in the same position, often on hard floors and in shoes chosen for a dress code rather than comfort. Sitting for hours does something similar in reverse. In both cases, the discomfort you feel in the evening is mostly about position, load and time — not about something being wrong with you.
The 15-minute evening routine
1. Change your shoes immediately
Keep a soft, lightweight pair by the door. Slipping out of work shoes into something with a wide toe box and cushioned sole is the single fastest change you can make.

Lie down and rest your calves on a cushion, a footrest or the arm of the couch. Ten minutes is usually enough to feel a difference.
3. Use supportive socks earlier, not later
Many people put compression socks on after the discomfort arrives. Wearing a supportive pair during the shift usually feels better than reacting in the evening.
4. Move your feet on purpose
- Ankle circles, ten each way
- Point and flex, twenty times
- Roll each foot over a ball for one minute
- Toe spreads while sitting
5. Hydrate and get real rest
Water, a lighter dinner and a consistent bedtime do more for tomorrow's shift than any single product. Comfort tools help — they don't replace rest.
If discomfort is persistent, painful or comes with swelling that doesn't settle, talk to a healthcare professional. This article is general comfort advice, not medical advice.

Best clogs ever!! They're seriously so comfy. I wear them with or without socks depending on the day and they still look great. Super easy to wipe clean too. True to size for me.

I've wanted a pair like this forever but didn't want to spend crazy money. I gave FeetWell a try and I'm honestly obsessed. The quality feels so close to the expensive brands and I already want another pair.
